Active Living information for this week

Good morning everyone,

Your final significant assignment, in terms of letter grade, for this year will be to create your own work-out routine.  The hope is that you will be able to use fitness information that you have learned from this course (and other sources) to create a fitness routine that implements F.I.T.T. principles.  This could/should be something that you will continue to do - and build upon - during the summer vacation and in to the future.

The FITT Principle (or formula) is a great way of monitoring your exercise program. The acronym FITT outlines the key components, or training guidelines, for an effective exercise program, and the initials F, I, T, T, stand for: Frequency, Intensity, Time and Type.
  • Frequency: refers to the frequency of exercise undertaken or how often you exercise.
  • Intensity: refers to the intensity of exercise undertaken or how hard you exercise.
  • Time: refers to the time you spend exercising or how long you exercise for.
  • Type: refers to the type of exercise undertaken or what kind of exercise you do.

Criteria:

1. Create a work-out journal (you can use my previous assignment hand-out as a template) that incorporates at least 9-12 different exercises. You must  design a workout that consists of exercises that combine strength, flexibility and cardio.  Where necessary you may have to provide a description of the exercise that explains proper technique.

2. Include a section that allows you to address the daily self refection.  For example, you should be able to indicate how you felt about the work-out?  Did you meet your goals? Were you less motivated?  Did you feel really good about the work-out?

3.  Provide a self Assessment that indicate the grade you think you deserve for this assignment and why?  Perhaps address FITT principles, level of variety, level of difficulty etc

You have the green light to include runs, biking, pick-up games as a daily work-out.  However, you should also incorporate strength and flexibility into your weekly routine

Due:June 12, 2020
