SS 10 - Total War Resources and mini assignment

Hello Social Studies 10 students!

First of all I hope that everyone is doing well.  A quick reminder to check in with me if you haven't done so already.  It will be nice to hear how you are doing.

As you should know SS10 students have a Total war assignment due May 5th.  Today I will be sharing 2 Power Point lessons and the 2 hand-outs that accompany the power point.  To find these resources go to the SS10 hand-outs side tab.  These will look familiar as we studied this topic already.  They will hopefully serve as a review to how Total War impacted Canadians at home during the Second World War.  Please go over both Power Point lessons and the hand-outs.

Your small written assignment will be to provide definitions for the following items relating to Canada and WW2:

1. Total War
2. Rationing,
3. Conscription
4. Curfews
5. Women in the workforce - "Rosie Riveter"
6. Converting Factories to War Production
7. Profiteering
8. Censorship
9. CD Howe
10. Commonwealth Air Training Program
11. Japanese internment
12. Day Care in Ontario and Quebec
13. Victory Bonds
14. Mackenzie King
15. National resources Mobilization Act

These terms will serve to provide some of the supporting detail that will help make the connection between WW2 and the current pandemic.

Please submit this assignment to my email at ftorres@sd44.ca
Due Next Tuesday
