Q. Do you know what it is?....

It's a literacy test used by the state of Alabama to determine if African Americans were "smart" enough to vote...
You probably realized that white people didn't have yo take this test.  It was a form voter suppression used by several states to prevent blacks from voting.
Q.  Can you think of any current measures that are being used in the United States to suppress certain groups from voting?

This week we are going to look at intolerance in Canada.  Sadly, Canada has its own history of racism and intolerance.  Many unfortunate incidents have occurred recently that revealed this dark side to Canadian society.

Hi !2 Course Information For This Week

Hello everyone,

I wanted to start by thanking all of you who have already submitted the Inquiry Project.  I will begin the marking process ASAP.  Nice work everyone!

Moving forward, we are going the do things a little differently.  I will still be posting new course information on Thursdays on this website (this week we will look at the topic of Apartheid in South Africa) However, I am going to use this opportunity to offer a weekly MS Teams check in that will serve two purposes:

1.  Questions and course updates for History 12

2.  A weekly chat about current events and any other areas of interest that students may have.  This will be called 'Real Time with Mr Torres'. It will be very informal, totally optional and hopefully something different and interesting...

Our "Real Time" schedule will be as follows:
Period 3
Week 1  - Wednesday at 10:30
Week 2  - Thursday at 10:30

Period 5
Week 1  - Thursday at 11:30
Week 2  - Wednesday at 9:00
